Challenge:
Executive Project Manager, Karen Bresnahan, led the charge to create
a children's web destination from the ground up - complete with media-rich
games, activities and a parent/teachers help section. Make a connection
to the SuperPages mission, while making it fun, engaging, as well as
attractive to educators searching for challenges that tie into curricular
goals -- reading, thinking, and problem solving.
Verizon
created a new site within their site called Enlighten
Me for the curious adult. Now the challenge was to create something
for the children of those curious adults!
Solution:
Fresh from a creative session in FableVision's FabLab,
Executive Creative Director, Peter
Reynolds, teamed with fellow FableVisionaries to "detect and dissect"
the kind of "deeper thinking" that SuperPages naturally inspired. From
there, they developed a kid-friendly site which features the Peetnik
Mysteries set in the imaginary world of Clutterbuck Valley, a rich
world for children of all ages to explore and solve mysteries. FableVision's
array of educational consultants and cyber-field testing contributed to
all aspects of the project, ensuring a robust learning experience.
Over
25 actors were hired to voice the 210 characters in the town. On-line
tools, such as a virtual cell phone, allow players to hear the characters
in order to pick up clues to solve the mystery.

- vehicle Intelligence Quest
Challenge/Solution:
In an effort to educate the public and young people about the danger
of using cell phones improperly, FableVision teamed up with Verizon,
the largest wireless communications provider in the U.S., to develop
a video and education program that teaches new drivers about phone safety
behind the wheel.
Verizon
Wireless' vIQ - vehicle Intelligence Quest is available to high
school driver education programs and private driving schools. The kit
includes a teacher's guide and an interactive animated video that uses
humor with a unique animation style to deliver its serious message.
FableVision designed all of the animated characters, as well as all
the suplimentary materials to go with the video. The project was produced
by Weber Shandwick Worldwide.
Winner
of the 2001 NJ/IABC Iris Award of Excellence, and also the 2001
International Mercury Award, Best of Show, (Over 10 min. video).
