Challenge:

London-based Pearson
Broadband recently tapped FableVision for a series of ten animated stories
as part of its strategy to stock its KnowledgeBox with world-class digital
educational content. As part of Pearson, LLC, a two billion dollar educational
media giant, Pearson Broadband connected with FableVision's award-winning
mission to "spark authentic learning using media, storytelling and technology."
The challenge was to bring the stroies to life in an entertaining and
engaging way, while adhering to specific educational goals.
Solution:
The FableVision team
of designers and animators rolled up their sleeves and created a series
of very distinctive and engaging animated treatments. The stories, which
were taken from Pearson's existing literature curriculum, included simple
picture books for young readers (The Blue Jackal), folktales from
many lands (Why Dogs Chase Cars?) and classic adventure tales (Treasure
Island.)
The FableVision team
of artists, including Noah Jones, Dave Tilton, John Lechner and Scott
McGoon, designed original characters, storyboards and backgrounds in a
wide range of styles and flavors. Using Flash animation, audio and sound
effects, the resulting movies were between 3 and 6 minutes each.
These colorful animated
stories are part of an innovative literacy program, which is part of the
KnowledgeBox curriculum, and will be used in schools.
