the North Star Approach to Teaching and Learning as you consider
your own life-long journey of learning, and the path you’re
on (or off). Explore real, pencils-down applications of the
Theory of Multiple Intelligences and strategies for differentiation.
Inspire yourself to create, out of the elements of your classroom,
a one-size-fits-few environment of imagination, discovery, and sharing.
Based on Peter H. Reynolds' book, The North Star,
this exciting workshop promises to bring the child front and center,
and to celebrate what great teaching really is.

Six hours,
includes an hour for lunch.

the idea that each of us owns a unique set of strengths, perferences,
intelligences, and experiences.
- Delineate
current education theories and ideas, including the theory of
multiple intelligences, and discuss their place in learning
and development.
- Examine
the relationship between school climate and achievement.

strategies for assessing student interests and abilities, and
for differentiating instruction to provide mutltiple paths to
success that accommodate them.
- Amplify
the relevance of technology in the classroom.
Celebrate the significance of great teaching.
- Become
connected to the North Star Community of parents, educators,
kids, and thinkers, who all seek to improve classroom instruction
so that it uses strengths to build weaknesses.

This workshop
will be divided into three strands during the day dealing with
Imagination, Discovery, and Sharing.

and intelligences play in instruction and school climate.

North Star and the North Star approach to teaching and learning,
which celebrate multiple paths to success and uses strengths to
build weaknesses.

Work to differentiate
and individualize upcoming classroom lessons and activities to address
individual student needs.
