FableVision’s Stationery Studio® Lands in the Apple Cart

Launch of Apple Digital Learning Series Includes Boston Educational Media Firm’s Award-Winning K-5 Writing Software

BOSTON, MA - March 21, 2006 - FableVision, the award-winning educational media and interactive publisher, today announced that its K5 writing software program, Stationery Studio®, has been selected by Apple for inclusion in the new Apple Digital Learning Series. The Digital Learning Series features educator-recommended and research-based software tools created by leading educational developers. By identifying “best of breed” software, Apple has facilitated and streamlined purchasing decisions for school systems searching for proven educational technology programs.

Stationery Studio is part of the Elementary Tools package offered as part of the new Apple Digital Learning Series, a juried collection of essential communication, research, organization, and creativity products for students in Grades K-5. This collection of productivity tools is designed to introduce and reinforce technology skills while supporting reading, writing, creativity, and critical thinking across the curriculum. The Elementary Tools package is a value- priced way of purchasing Stationery Studio in combination with other leading software programs.

Peter H. Reynolds, CEO and Founder of FableVision, shares, “We are thrilled that Stationery Studio has been recognized by Apple as a benchmark solution for the elementary classroom. This latest honor reinforces what teachers tell us about the power of this software – that Stationery Studio reaches even the most reluctant writers across ability levels and grade levels - and inspires them to get writing.”

Stationery Studio was developed by Dr. Peggy Healy Stearns and Peter H. Reynolds to inspire and support student writing. The program, which has been used successfully with thousands of students, includes 226 curriculum-based borders and shapes that feature the imaginative and inspiring artwork of Peter H. Reynolds, illustrator of the best-selling Judy Moody series and author/illustrator of The North Star, The Dot, Ish, and SugarLoaf. Dr. Stearns and Reynolds will be presenting the software this week at the Florida Educational Technology Conference (FETC) in Orlando, Florida.

The intuitive software design of Stationery Studio assures ease of use for students and teachers alike. Technology coordinators call Stationery Studio a “dream product – no training required” and use it as their introductory word processor of choice. The program also supports writing away from the computer by allowing teachers and students to print stationery with customized writing line styles (primary, standard, and others), line width, layout, and print format to suit students’ developmental levels and instructional goals.

Another FableVision software application, Essay Express, has been recognized by Apple as a Complementary Curriculum Product. This software, designed in collaboration with The Research Institute for Learning & Development, helps students develop essay writing confidence and abilities. Based on the metacognitive software program BrainCogs®, the program provides research-based cognitive strategies that support both mainstream and challenged learners, with a special focus on the demands of increased essay-based testing.

FableVision’s fresh take on educational software has caught the attention of the industry, landing the firm a string of major awards, including 2006 Parents Choice Recommended Software, 2006 ALA/ACLS Notables Honors for Video & Software, 2005 Carnegie Medal of Excellence, 2004 Technology & Learning Award of Excellence, 2004 Media and Methods Magazine Portfolio Award for English and Language Art Software, 2004 Instructor Teacher RAVES Award Scholastic’s Instructor Magazine – Best Product List 2003, and the Children’s Software & New Media Revue Award - Best of 2003.
