Author/Educator/Animator Peter Reynolds Featured at Lesley College's Free Literacy Event for Families
First 1,000 Children to Receive Free Books

Boston, Ma.

Nationally acclaimed author/illustrator/educator Peter H. Reynolds will make an appearance a special celebration highlighting authors, books and children on Sunday, Nov. 7 at the Hynes Convention Center in honor of the 90th birthday of Lesley College. He will read from his book The North Star (FableVision Press) and create original illustrations for the children, as well NS coveras sign copies of his book. The book is an illustrated allegory about a young child's journey on the path of life which, as Reynolds points out, "encourages life-long learners to navigate their true potential." Families are invited to take part in the free event and is free and open to the public from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. The first 1,000 children will receive a free copy of The North Star book.

The event, A Celebration of ABC's, Authors Books and Children, will feature artists, children's authors, illustrators and musicians who will involve children in projects focused on literacy and the arts. Other special guests include actor and literacy advocate Danny Glover, author of The Phantom Tollbooth Norton Juster, and Channel 5 Anchor Amalia Barreda. Workshops for children and families on puppet making, mural painting, making characters from books, children's theater, and children's poetry.

The celebration will highlight Lesley's impact on children's learning, as well as the impact of teachers around the world. These events are a kickoff to Lesley's Literacy and Learning Conference, which will be held from Nov. 7-9 at the Hynes Convention Center, Boston. Reynolds' commitmkid readingent to helping children and adults nurture human potential has lead to his funding and creation of an entire not-for-profit website dedicated to inspiring parents, educators and parents. Peter has even created a web-version of his new book The North Star, along with software and activities -- distributing them for free at http://www.fablevision.com/northstar.

Peter Reynolds' career includes more than a decade at Tom Snyder Productions, one of the country's leading educational software developers. As VP and Creative Director, Peter helped produce dozens of award-winning videos and software programs that combined technology, media and storytelling. Peter left TSP to launch FableVision Studios with his identical twin brother (also a Dedham resident) which produces quality books and programming for children and adults. Organizations drawn to Peter's unique character design & animation have included PBS, ZOOM, Addison-Wesley Longman, Candlewick Press, Simon & Schuster, and Prentice Hall.
