Boston, MA--
Publisher's Weekly, the international news magazine of book publishing and bookselling and considered the publishing industry's "bible" trade magazine, has named Judy Moody to its "Best Children's Book 2000" list. Judy pictureJudy Moody, an early reader chapter book written by Megan McDonald and published by Cambridge-based Candlewick Press, was illustrated by Boston-based author/illustrator Peter H. Reynolds. Senior Editor Mary Lee Donovan at Candlewick Press announced, "I am very happy to deliver the wonderful news that Publisher's Weekly has made available to us its list of the 'Best Books of 2000.' Out of a total of 16 novels selected, Candlewick Press had two, and one of those two was none other than our favorite moody third-grader, Judy Moody." As described in the PublishersWeekly.com web spotlight, "this comical novel introduces the entertainingly mercurial third-grader Judy Moody, who devises intriguing solutions to her various dilemmas. Her relationship to her best friend Rocky and her second-grader brother, Stink, propel the plot in diverting directions, and the dialogue is spot-on. It's hard to imagine a mood that Judy couldn't improve."
