| FableVision Expands eLearning Communities Offering with Launch of West Coast Office Douglas Gastich to Head Up Creative eSolutions for Child and Adult Learners
Gastich has a long history of collaboration with FableVision on major children’s interactive media projects with organizations such as PBS Kids, Houghton Mifflin, and the Baltimore Children's Museum. “I love exploring learning in both formal and informal settings, and using technology to connect and share the places we learn,” says Gastich. With his special focus on media-rich, networked application development, Gastich enjoys a passion for online storytelling and community building. Doug is a member of the Board of Directors for Portland-based GLOBIO, an international nonprofit dedicated to connecting kids on topics of biodiversity, and with GLOBIO recently traveled to China to launch a multilingual Flash activity called BioReporters. Gastich observes, “FableVision stands at the crossroads of broadcast, publishing and interactive – with a dedication to create community-based, converged media that makes a difference in people’s lives – whether fighting global poverty or helping challenged learners learn.” Gastich will be leveraging Portland’s considerable pool of technology, programming and multimedia talent to expand FableVision’s educational technology product line as well as that of its partners, which include Boston University’s LIA Project and The Research Institute for Learning and Development. Founded by twin brothers Peter and Paul Reynolds, FableVision (www.fablevision.com) is celebrating a decade of using media, storytelling and technology to tell “stories that matter, stories that move.” Peter H. Reynolds’ success as a children’s book author/illustrator (NY Times Best-Selling Judy Moody, The Dot, Ish) has also helped position FableVision as an award-winning content provider to global consumer and classroom markets. With a recent launch of a UK Group, FableVision’s educational publishing group is growing out its K12 software product offerings (Stationery Studio, BrainCogs, Essay Express), including its first acquisition of Get a Clue this past summer, which added a critical subscription-based software engine to the firm’s product line.
