Dedham Students Win Part in Acclaimed JUDY MOODY by Author/Illustrator and Fellow Dedham Resident Peter H. Reynolds

Girls Make “Guest Appearance” in Newly Published Chapter Book

DEDHAM, MA
Stacey and Erin Radley of Dedham, sixth and fourth graders at Dedham Country Day School, were recently presented with the newly published copies of Judy Moody Saves the World in which their names were included in the book's illustrations by Dedham Resident Peter H. Reynolds. The unusual opportunity was part of a winning bid for a fund-raising auction held at Dedham Country Day School two years ago. Part of the acclaimed Judy Moody early chapter book series, Judy Moody Saves the World hit bookstores this August and has already gone into its third printing and has hit Publisher's Weekly Top 10 Book List.

Peter Reynolds invited the Radley family to his house and art studio in Dedham where he presented both girls with signed copies of Judy Moody Saves the World, a paper back edition of the original Judy Moody book and a large watercolor illustration of Judy Moody which he painted for the occasion.

Gail Radley, the girls' mother admits, "We had a sneak preview in Hyannis last month - when we saw a four foot Judy Moody cardboard cutout - and went wild - going straight for the bookshelves!" Mrs. Radley and her daughters were welcomed by the surprised bookstore manager who joined in the party's excitement searching for the girls' names in the book's illustrations.

Already approached by Dedham Country Day for a similar "guest appearance" donation in a future Peter Reynolds' book, Erin Radley surprisingly passed on her family bidding. Her face beaming, she exclaimed, "I want someone else to feel the joy I felt when I saw my name in the book!" Mrs. Radley appreciates the sentiment, but admits it won't stop her from bidding up the exclusive item when the time comes.

Author and Illustrator of The North Star and several other books with Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers (Serendipity, Sydney's Star), Peter Reynolds heads FableVision Studios (www.fablevision.com) which produces quality books, animated programming and educational software for classroom, home and museum. PBS, ZOOM, Noggin network are among FableVision's growing roster of national, cross-media clients in search of the studio's thoughtful, quirky storytelling, character design, illustration & animation.
