Tony Lechner

Tony Lechner is a professional composer, sound designer, and musician. His eight-year collaboration with Fablevision Studios has included many original musical scores, imaginative sound design, and even an occasional voiceover. In 2004 Tony and his brother John teamed up to create the Sticky Burr animated theme song, which won a John Lennon Song Writing Contest award.

Tony graduated from UMass Amherst with a BA in Voice and a MM in Jazz Arranging and Composition. He ably plays several instruments, and his vocal abilities range from rock to classical (and everything in between). You can hear Tony performing his original music around the Northeast as a soloist or with his indie-folk band Wild-Wood (www.myspace.com/wildwoodmusic).

In addition to his personal musical pursuits, Tony teaches music to middle and high school students at the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School (www.pvpa.org) in South Hadley, MA. His student groups 5-Alone (www.5Alone.com) & Absolute Jazz have won many national and international honors, including recognition from DownBeat Magazine, The Contemporary A Cappella Society of America, and also invitational performances at the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, and several times at the International Association for Jazz Education's (www.iaje.org) annual conference.

Tony lives in South Hadley, MA with his fiancee and their dog.
