BOSTON, MA. – LINK-live Inaugural Gala announced today that CEO/Founder of FableVision and New York Times Best Selling Author/Illustrator Peter H. Reynolds will emcee the 2009
LINK-live Presidential Inaugural Gala at The Corcoran Gallery of Art
on January 20, 2009.
As emcee, Reynolds will lead the LINK-live Presidential Inaugural Gala’s program that focuses on “technology serving humanity” and advances President-elect Obama’s vision of how investments in science and technology can drive prosperity to improve the lives of all Americans. At the January 20th Gala event, Reynolds will unveil an original commemorative illustration that depicts the theme of the evening – how technology can improve and support humanity in four areas – Life, Information, Nature and Knowledge (LINK). The original pen, ink and watercolor of this illustration will be auctioned off at the LINK-live Presidential Inaugural Gala – along with 100 signed and numbered museum-quality giclee prints of the illustration. All proceeds will support President-elect Obama’s Share Our Strength (SOS) campaign to eradicate children's hunger.
Peter H. Reynolds has dedicated his life to writing and illustrating
stories (Someday, The Dot, Ish, The North Star) that challenge children and "grown up children" around the world to reach their full potential
and to leave their “mark on the world.” Mr. Reynolds has made his
own mark in many ways through his award winning books and by founding Boston-based FableVision, an Emmy-award winning educational media development and publishing company that
creates innovative software, animated films and other media for education, with his identical twin brother Paul and a team of talented artists, writers, producers and developers.
As an advocate for creativity and self-expression, Reynolds has spoken around the world as he champions creative educational reform and innovation. Reynolds notes, "We need to nurture learners to be creative problem-solvers, not programmed test-takers – and also call on them to use their creativity to innovate their way to a better world."
The LINK-live Presidential Inaugural Gala is a non-partisan event hosted by the LINK AMERICAS Foundation (LAF), The Alliance for Public Technology (APT), The Children's Partnership (TCP), Education Development Center (EDC) and the George Lucas Educational Foundation - Edutopia.
