Inspiration Expo Brings School & Community Together

Currey Ingram Academy Inaugural Event Celebrates Creativity & Imagination

The following article is a reflection of Peter’s visits offered by Evan Dickert who is a graduating senior at Currey Ingram Academy, who will attend Middle Tennessee State University majoring in Information Technology/Systems. He is the winner of the Hope Scholarship which pays his tuition for four years.

Three years ago I met Peter H. Reynolds for the first time. At that time I didn’t really know much about books or the “Book World”. But we were all told that we had to go see this special guest at my school. I am always really happy to meet people that come to our school, but this just didn’t seem very interesting. After the presentation was over I walked away very satisfied and very interested in what Peter had to say.

When I think of a children’s book I think about a story that is geared towards little kids, therefore it is very simple and easy to understand, but after I read a few of Peter’s books I realized that there was so much meaning hidden behind the story. It was amazing to me how a story that was so simple could convey so much meaning.

Two years, and one interview later, I have become very good friends with Peter, and his friend and co-worker Bill, or, "The Dot Connector". When you normally meet someone famous they can be pretty egotistical and arrogant, but not Peter. Peter is a great fun loving guy that can capture the attention of anyone and really keep him or her interested in what he has to say.

Children’s books can seem very lame, boring and childish. But the next time you’re in the library or book store, pick up one of Peter’s books and your view will totally change. His images and words lock you in and take you on a journey like no other, and really inspire you to do anything you want. Thanks, Peter, you have really inspired me to be who I am and follow my life long dreams.
