A Professional Development Opportunity Offered By FableVision

Learning is never ending journey. All of us, children and grown up children, are participants on a voyage of self-discovery. Every one of us is unique and has a right to be inspired in ways appropriate to his/her own abilities, talents, and interests.

The Creative Journey is just that, an experience in self-discovery.

There are a lot of educational goals we all share. These foundation skills provide the building blocks upon which a lifetime of learning can be built. FableVision supports content and activities that strengthen those basic skills, including writing, reading, comprehension, articulation of ideas, research, and problem solving.

We also believe that well-educated students and adults are not complete without less "test-able" skills, such as self-determination, guiding principles, appreciation of culture, goal-setting, creativity, community service, and a natural desire to learn and improve.

Peter H. Reynolds' book The North Star uses the metaphor of stars and constellations as a way for children (and grown up children) to navigate their own life-long learning journey. The book also encourages a “thinking journey” that includes helping others follow their own directions. The Creative Journey is based upon The North Star, which has been used worldwide in classrooms and homes, produced as a musical, and integrated as a classroom curriculum. This robust allegory about being brave enough to step off the path and chart an authentic, life-long learning journey has been transformational for both children and adults.

The Creative Journey retreat will involve participants in an experience of self-discovery and renewal — using story telling, videos, technology, and the magic of believing. Participants will gain ideas for the classroom, see models of learning, and receive inspiration to continue their own growth and learning.

Read on for a small sampling of the many positive responses we've received from past participants:

"Your ability to communicate and speak from the heart has touched my soul as an educator and inspired me to reach further, work harder, and to try and make a difference in the lives of the students and teachers I work with on a daily basis."

Pam Krambeck

"Peter Reynolds inspires the masses with his brilliant vision and passionate resolve. Peter's guiding principles provide all educators with their own North Star...always looking toward the universe of creativity and possibilities."

Shawn Algoe
